What it handles
Help search engines understand the page.
Structured data tells Google what a page is: a product with a price, an article with an author, a list of questions. Written by hand it is easy to get wrong, so this builds it from a form.
You are told what is missing, such as a price without a currency, an event that ends before it starts, or a breadcrumb step with no address, before you publish.
Text that contains angle brackets or an ampersand is escaped, so a question such as How do I use <script>? cannot break out of the script tag. Empty fields are left out entirely.

What is JSON-LD?
It is a way to describe a page in a block of JSON, placed in a script tag. Search engines read it to understand the page and, for some types, to show extras such as prices, ratings and questions in results.
Will it make my page show rich results?
Not on its own. Correct markup makes a page eligible, and Google decides whether to show it. The content described must also be visible on the page, and Google no longer shows FAQ results for most sites.
Where do I put the markup?
Anywhere in the head or body of the page, inside the script tag this tool writes. A page can hold several blocks, such as an Organization and a BreadcrumbList.
Which dates and formats does it accept?
Dates as 2025-03-14, or with a time as 2025-03-14T09:30. Prices as digits with a decimal point, such as 89.90, and a three-letter currency code. Addresses must be full https links.
How do I check the result?
Paste the finished page or the markup into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator. They report anything this tool could not know about your page.
