Crop it properly
The exact rectangle, not roughly the right one.
The crop box is where the accuracy lives: drag it for the look, then read or type the pixels to be sure. What you see dimmed is what gets cut; what stays bright is what you keep.
Rotate left or right in quarter turns and flip the photo across or down. The crop box turns with the photo, so what you had selected stays selected.
The file you download is exactly the rectangle you drew, at the photo's own resolution. Nothing is scaled up, nothing is stretched, and the width and height on screen are the size of the file.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is decoded, cropped and saved by your own browser using a canvas. It is never sent to a server, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.
Does cropping lose any quality?
The crop itself does not: the pixels inside the box are copied at their original resolution. Saving as JPG or WebP re-encodes them, so leave the quality high, around 90, or choose PNG for a lossless copy.
How do I crop to an exact size, such as 1080 by 1080?
Type it. Set the aspect to 1:1 to lock the shape, then put 1080 in Width under Crop area and the height follows. Left and Top position the box to the pixel. If the photo is smaller than the size you need, the box is limited to what the photo actually has.
Can I use the keyboard?
Yes. Tab to the crop area and use the arrow keys to move it one pixel at a time, Shift and an arrow to move ten, and Alt with an arrow to resize it from the bottom right corner. Every button and field is reachable by keyboard too.
Which formats can I open and save?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files up to 40 MB, and save as JPG, PNG or WebP. PNG and WebP keep transparent areas; JPG cannot, so anything see-through is filled with white.
Why can I not copy the image in my browser?
Copying an image to the clipboard needs a recent browser and a secure connection, and Firefox still limits it. If Copy image is refused, use Download crop instead: it works everywhere.
