Frequently asked questions
Are public holidays included automatically?
No, and that is deliberate. Holidays differ by country, region and sometimes by city, and a built-in list would be wrong for many people and would go out of date. You add the dates that apply to you, and they are kept only in the page while you use it.
What happens if a holiday falls on a weekend?
Nothing is subtracted, because that day was never a working day. Adding it changes no total, and a note tells you it was already a non-working day. Subtracting it anyway is the classic bug in this kind of calculator.
Do the start and end dates count?
Both count by default, so Monday to Friday is five working days. Switch either off if your deadline is measured from the day after, which is common for notice periods and delivery estimates.
Can I use a working week that is not Monday to Friday?
Yes. Tick whichever days apply, including weekends. Retail, hospitality and shift work often need a six-day week or midweek days off, and the summary line always says which days are being counted.
What if I enter the dates the wrong way round?
The working days between them are still counted, and a note points out that the end date comes first so you can see what happened rather than being handed a silently reversed answer.
