Frequently asked questions
Is my signature uploaded?
No. It is drawn on a canvas in your browser and turned into a PNG there. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is saved to your device either, so the signature disappears when you close the tab. The downloaded file is the only copy.
Is a signature image legally binding?
That depends entirely on the country, the document and the parties involved. An image of a signature is often accepted for everyday agreements, but many formal documents need a proper electronic signature service with an audit trail, or a wet signature. Check what your document requires.
Why is my typed signature a different style on another device?
The typed styles use fonts that are already on your device rather than downloading any, which keeps the page private and fast. If a device does not have a particular handwriting font, it falls back to the closest one it has. Downloading the PNG fixes the look, because the image no longer needs the font.
Will it look blurry in my document?
It should not. The PNG is rendered at three times the size shown on screen and at your device's full pixel density, so it holds up when placed in a document or printed. Scaling it up far beyond that will soften it, as with any image.
Should I use a transparent or a solid background?
Transparent is usually right, because the signature then sits on whatever is underneath it, such as a line on a form. Choose a solid background when a tool you are pasting into does not handle transparency and shows a black box instead.
