Quick enough for a scribble, tidy enough for a diagram.
Every mark is kept as an object rather than painted on, so Undo takes back exactly the last thing you did, anything can be picked up again later, and the saved image is drawn fresh at twice the size with no jagged edges.
Select picks up any mark, shape, word or picture: drag it to move it, pull a corner to resize it, or delete it on its own. Pan drags the board and the zoom runs from 25 to 400 per cent, so a detail is close enough to draw and the whole board still fits on the screen.
Import a picture, drop it on the board, or paste one straight from the clipboard. If it sits on one flat colour, Remove background cuts that colour away using the same engine as the Background Remover, so a logo or a product shot lands on your sketch with nothing boxed around it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I draw with a finger or a stylus?
Yes. The board uses pointer events, so a finger, a stylus, a graphics tablet and a mouse all work, and the page will not scroll away under you while you are drawing on a touch screen.
How big is the saved image?
The board is 1600 by 1000 and it is saved at 3200 by 2000, which is twice the size. The picture is redrawn at that size from the marks themselves rather than being scaled up, so lines, shapes and text stay crisp.
How do I add text?
Open Style, type the words in the Text to place box, choose the Text tool, then click where the words should go. The colour and the brush size set the colour and the size of the letters, and Select can move or resize them afterwards.
How do I add a picture?
Choose the Image tool to pick a file, drag a picture onto the board, or paste one with Ctrl+V. It lands in the middle at a size that fits, and Select moves, resizes or deletes it like anything else you have drawn.
How does Remove background work on a picture?
It reads the colour around the outside edge of the picture and clears everything close to it, which is the same plain-backdrop method the Background Remover uses. It needs one reasonably even backdrop, so it suits logos, icons and product shots; for a busy photo, run it through the Background Remover first and bring the cut-out here.
Can I get a sketch with a see-through background?
Yes. Choose Transparent under Paper and save as PNG or WebP, and only your marks are in the file. JPG has no transparency, so a transparent board saved as JPG gets a white background instead.
Is there undo, and are there keyboard shortcuts?
Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes, as far back as the board goes. The tools have single-key shortcuts too: V select, P pen, M marker, E eraser, L line, A arrow, R rectangle, O ellipse, T text, I image and H pan. Hold Ctrl and scroll to zoom.
Does the saved picture say it was made here?
Yes, in its properties rather than on the picture. A saved PNG or JPG carries the line ConduitTools (tools.conduitcodelabs.com) in the field a file browser shows as the program that made it, so artwork drawn here can be traced back without a watermark across the middle of it. WebP has nowhere to put it, so a WebP goes out exactly as the browser made it. Nothing else is written in: no name, no time, no location. Any metadata tool, including the one on this site, will strip it out if you would rather it were not there.
Is my board still there if I reload or close the page?
Yes. The board is kept in this browser as you draw, so reloading the tab by accident does not cost you the drawing, and it is still there when you come back. It never leaves your device: there is no account and no server holding it. Clear empties the board and what was kept with it, and a very large picture may be dropped from what is kept because a browser only gives a page a few megabytes. Download the image for anything you want to keep properly.
