Discount Calculator
Find the sale price, the money saved and the total with tax. Stacked offers are applied one after the other, so you see the real percentage off rather than the two added together.
How to use this tool
Enter the original price and the discount percentage.
Add a second discount if the deal stacks one on top of another, and a sales tax rate if you need the final total. You can also change the currency.
Read the savings, the price after the discount, and the total, then copy the result.

Nothing you type is sent anywhere. This is a general calculator, not tax advice.
What the sticker really comes to.
Shops word offers to sound bigger than they are. This works out what you actually pay and what you actually save.
A second discount comes off what is left after the first. 20% then 10% is 28% off, not 30%, and the real figure is shown.
Add a sales tax rate and it is applied to the discounted price, with the tax and the final total listed separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is 20% off then 10% off the same as 30% off?
No, and this is the most common mistake with stacked offers. On a price of 100, the first discount leaves 80, and the second takes 10% of that 80, leaving 72. You saved 28, so the deal is 28% off rather than 30%.
Is the tax worked out before or after the discount?
After. The discounts are applied first, then the tax rate is applied to what is left, and the tax is added to give the total. That is the usual order at a till, but rules do vary, so check what applies where you are.
How do I work out the percentage off from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original, then multiply by 100. For a 40 item reduced to 30: 10 ÷ 40 × 100 = 25% off. The Percentage Calculator does this directly under “Percentage increase or decrease”.
Can I use this for VAT or GST?
Yes, as arithmetic: enter the rate in the sales tax field and it is added to the discounted price. It is a general calculator though, and it does not know any country's rules about which items are taxed or at what rate.
Is this tax advice?
No. It is a calculator for everyday shopping and pricing. Real sales tax, VAT and GST rules differ by place and by product, so check the rate and treatment that apply to you before relying on a figure.
